In the day and age where games now cost £40 and upwards (even if they are not very good), it's nice to know that you can still get bargain that will keep you entertained for a while. I'm not going to say that the Ghostbusters video game is the best game I could ever play, however a price tag of under £20 means it is definitely one of the best "value for money games".

The game was partly written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, so it is safe to say the storey line is brilliantly equipped with the traditional Ghostbusters light humour. Strong references are made to the movies throughout the game, proving problematic to the player if you have not seen the movies before hand. Despite this the game storey line acts as a perfect stand alone story when ignoring these references.

The game begins by introducing a new recruit to the Ghostbusters named "Rookie", who you will control throughout the entire game. This character is controlled through 3rd person and strangely does not have a single word of dialogue throughout the game.

The action controls in this game are unique, instead of your typical shoot down any bad guys around you technique, ghosts must be weakened and stunned by shooting your proton stream at them, and then pulled down into a trap before they come round, offering a nice change for regular gamers.

There are only 8 levels in this game which include locations such as; the hotel Sedgewick, Times Square, New York Library, the Natural History Museum, the Lost Island and the Central Park Cemetery. These levels offer vast contrasts of colourful sceneries, as well as different types of ghosts and creatures to capture and destroy. Within each level you must follow your PKE meter to discover where the ghosts are hiding and which direction to progress in the game, as well as hunting down "cursed artefact" collectables.

This game can be completed within around 6 hours, however if you choose to complete all of the collectables within the game it will last a considerable time longer. The game offers a wide range of on-line and off-line achievements which make you think very carefully about moving on from sections of the game without fully exploring every inch of the rooms.

My main criticism of this game is the on-line experience. I often find it hard to even access a game lobby on-line, most probably due to the small amount of players who actually play this game on-line. When I do finally access a game it becomes tiresome very quickly, with very little variation between games. Although I feel the money I spent was well worth it just for the single player experience.

I only gave this game a "good" rating because it obviously is not up to the same standard as games such as grand theft auto or call of duty, but then again this game can provide the same amount of fun at a much lower cost. Overall I would give it a solid 7/10.

I absolutely love The Ghostbusters so was looking forward to playing the game and I can honestly say I've not been let down. Playing the game feels like you're playing in a movie and the cut scenes are fantastic with excellent graphics.

My only issue is that it can feel a bit repetitive at times bit its def worth a purchase (especially if you're a Ghostbusters fan).
