Haze

One of the reasons Rare are such a controversial developer nowadays (apart from the whole Nintendo selling them to Microsoft thing) is the fact that a lot of people associated with GoldenEye and Perfect Dark left the company a long time ago. Many of them ended up at Free Radical Design, where they created the love-it-or-loathe-it TimeSpliters series and the underappreciated Second Sight. Haze ditches the stylised look of their older games though, with a game set in a future world dominated by mega global corporation Mantel - where you''re cast as one of their soldiers fighting rebels in South America. Like all fictional global corporations Mantel is up to no good and it turns out their drug NECTAR is doing more than just making you a super soldier with increased speed, strength and accuracy....

This Game is an entertaining game with lots of fun. i dont know why people think it is that rubbish. the only thing is though the story is a little lame. nothing else. you start off being a mantel trooper (the person on the cover) in an war against the rebels (the bad guys for now). You fight and fight until we think that you are doing something wrong. You find out that the mantel trooper organistaion is bad and you fight with the rebels until you win. This is the lame story. The online play and the action in the missions though are FANTASTIC!! its a good game

Bought this game the day it came out after keeping up with all the hype. I've realised over the many years of gaming I have under my belt that jounarlsits can not decide for me which games I play and which I dont despite all the bad press this is a good game and well worth playing.

The basic premise is that you start off as a member of a vast private army called mantle you are given doses on a regular occurence of a drug called nectar the idea being that this drug distorts your reality and so you never see the true horrors of war and also it leaves you on a permenant high so you feel invicible.

It works to a certain extent you press L1 for a shot of nectar and for the first few levels it's all you do as it makes the game so easy to play enemy soldiers light up and sparkle in front of you so really you cant miss unfortunatley it makes the game a little to easy but the game suddenly takes a twist when you are taken off the necatr and reality kicks in and you see how grim and deepresing war really is you also realise how much the drug affects your reality the second two thirds of the game are played like this and it is when the game becomes much better.

I wasnt sure at first wether to buy this game or not as I like many others read the awful reviews with horror some weeks later and after finishing the game and enjoying the multiplayer sections I've come to the conclusion that coming so soon after GTA4 it was alwys going to struggle.

It isn't the best looking game but niether is it the worst the level design at times is down right awful we are in an era of vast open plane maps and still games send you down a pre ordained path something that even COD4 is guilty of but for all the faults it was still an enjoyable game and if you miss out because of unfair reviews it would be a shame.

It does suffer as many games do today for being too short and way over hyped but wait for the price to come down and buy it when new releases dry up and take it for what it is and enjoyable fps.
