Sony PSP Go Console Black

The PSP Go is sleek and all about online functionality!

As well as online multiplayer, this console supports email, internet browsing, RSS and Internet radio. The PSP Go is completely disk-less and that means all content, including games must be is brought through the online Sony Playstation store and stored on the 16GB internal memory or a Memory Stick Micro (M2) card.

In comparison with its predecessor, the Go has Bluetooth connectivity, is 16% lighter, 35% smaller and the screen is 3.8 inches and just as super crisp.

Back when the Go was first announced, people understandably balked at the ridiculous price and lack of a UMD drive. Sony assured consumers they were working on a solution to the latter, but, as few PSP owners were fooled, that idea has now been dropped.

With slipping consumer support for the system, it seems the price is also on a slide (though how much that has to do with Sony, I do wonder), but the simple facts are these: The 3000 is light and sleek enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. It has a bigger screen and a better control layout (the new analogue positioning gets uncomfortable before long). The option to trade old games and find a bargain is lost and, even post price-cut of the Go, the 3000 is still A LOT cheaper.

Despite having to power a UMD drive, the 3000 even has a better battery life (around 4 hours, as opposed to the Go's 3).

The Go's single saving grace is its memory capacity, but even this is achievable on the older model, for less than the price-difference between the systems.

If you already own a PSP, there is no incentive to buy the Go. If you don't, buy an earlier model.
