I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. At its heart it is just a fighting game, with each character having a unique combo set and special attacks, each based on the original manga and anime. The fighting mechanics are simple, The B button is for basic attack and the left stack allows for combos to be performed, but as its Naruto most of the combos end in a devastating final attack, but the key difference is that the Y button allows the uses to delve into their Characters unique abilities and unleashed special abilities that can change the tide of battle, Deidara drops a giant explosive on the head of his opponent. The multiplayer allows for teams of three to be assembles, one who the player directly controls and two supports that you can call, so long as the support bar is full, each character uses their first special attack when uses as support so some strategy is requires when selecting a team. But its not all strategy, when you get to a certain amount of health, the character is then capable to enter an awakened form, here the player can no longer use support or their ultimate attacks but their physical strength greatly increases, some to near superhuman level, and for some, like Naruto, they change shape into a more destructive form capable of combos that can remove around half the opponents health. But the main components of the game if the visual style, based on the manga, the game looks very like the graphic novel with each character beautiful represented and overall the game world looks like the world of Naruto. The actual main story is basically a string of fight held together but the basic story of Naruto, but as far a string of fights went the plot was very good, following the actual story of Naruto to the letter, and boss fight that involved quick time event which did become annoying at points, but it was worth it to see the anima style used so well, lighting crackled in the background as Sasuke launches a thunder demon down onto the battlefield shattering and burning all to dust. But there are some problems, one is the RPG elements, to make the game more interactive the developers decided to make you walk from fight to fight, this wouldn't be a problem if every fight wasn't on the other side of the map, meaning a 10 minutes trek back and forth, but there are useful collection mission that you cant take, like collection pearls and messenger birds that tend to break but the tedious running, you do eventually get warp scrolls so you do get the ability to teleport form one place to the other. Overall I was surprised at this game, expected another Broken bonds type game but honestly I enjoyed this game and still play it to day, with its online fights and little gimmicks that mean you just keep playing, the ninja info cars are a good example, and through the online mode you rise through the ranks to become the greatest ninja around. I thoroughly hope you enjoy this game it is fun for all ages, see you soon online.
