Ridge Racer 3D Nintendo 3DS
Coinciding with the launch of the 3DS, Ridge Racer is one of the first games to be released for this new console. The game play is simple, typical of the arcade racing genre of games, but requires obsessive concentration as you launch your glossy new car into hairpin bends then disappear into the distance amid squealing tyres and smoking exhausts to catch your rivals. The 3D effect works superbly with this game; the tracks and scenery stretch out realistically before you and the illusion of depth really helps with your spatial awareness allowing you to negotiate the twists and turns with more accuracy.
In addition to the usual rally tracks (including some favourites from previous games), you will have to navigate round urban jungles, mountain tracks, rocky canyons, and at times you may need sub-aqua skills! You can buy extras (full nitrous or instant rocket fuel) before each race. The game may be played in Grand Prix, single race, time attack and multiplayer modes and it will be possible to make use of the 3DS's StreetPass mode.
