Final Fantasy XIII-2 for PS3 and Xbox 360 is set three years on from the conclusion of Final Fantasy XIII. During the rebuilding of the devastated world Serah's elder sister (Lightning) and Snow seem to have gone missing. Serah sets off to find her sister who she is convinced is still alive. She is accompanied by a mysterious young man called Noel Kreiss who rescues her from the chaos and confusion following a meteorite falling from the sky, bringing on the appearance of terrifying vicious monsters.

Both old and new characters are on hand to help Serah solve the secret of Lightning's disappearance. This game is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII and there have been some improvements this time including more freedom for the player and a new improved superior Battle system. There is a slightly darker tone to the story in this chapter of Final Fantasy achieved, in part, by The Goddess of Death (Etro). There is a high degree of time travel included and there are plenty of side-quests to keep the player interested. The plot is easier to follow this time so is suitable for newcomers and Final Fantasy veterans alike.
