This side scrolling platform video game, the latest addition to this classic series, is a direct sequel to New Super Mario Bros (from 2006) and has been developed specifically for the 3DS.
The main emphasis is on collecting as many gold coins as possible (see if you can get to one million) from the Mushroom Kingdom as Mario and/or Luigi set off on their mission to rescue Princess Peach who has been kidnapped by Bowser and the Koopalings. Guide your timeless hero through this dangerous terrain, avoiding pitfalls and traps while sidestepping any Goombas or Koopa Troopas that cross your path.
There are some great features returning from previous games such as the Super Leaf from Super Mario Bros 3 plus some additional new features this time such as Coin Rush mode and the chance to challenge other players via Streetpass. There will be a future option to purchase new downloadable content.
