Never has a game's title been more fitting, you'll see when you play it online. Little Big Planet, which starts as a platform-game, soon turns into a gateway to a never-ending chamber of playgrounds, extra levels and toys when you delve into PSN. The community of users run free, unbound by self-censorship or commercialism, creating gaming-worlds which include, autobiographical levels, levels which follow on from the main storyline and unforeseen things such as mini game collections, pinball tables and quizzes for all to use. So, the only question that's left is...what do you want to create? Turn your ideas into reality - the only limit is your imagination!

Little Big Planet- Game Review
Little Big Planet (LBP) is an original and Jaw dropping example of creativity that utilises all that a console game has to offer. Seamless integration of flowing controls, superb graphics and fluid gameplay that will capture the hearts and minds of all ages; this is a must have experience for all PS3 owners.
It was released in 2009 as one of the few exclusive games purely for the PS3, it soon became a hit with all and indeed one of the many reasons to buy the console. The developers at 'Media Molecule' did a superb job of delivering a universally friendly and accessible game that was soon to be known by all.
Firstly: the gameplay. This element is composed mainly of relatively simple platforming with a superb voice over by Stephen Fry who brings wit and guidance to the extreme: however it is the beautifully crafted environments that really let this game come to life. The game has it's own unique style that allows it to be humorous and entertaining with relatively little effort. You can jump between layers of the environment, giving a truly 3d feel, with ease and the aim is to explore the several worlds created by the developers. Each world is made up of several levels and each world has it's own mini-plot line. These again are fairly simply but fun to play through. The platforming is heavily based upon timing and some puzzle work is also involved whilst there is also the element of collecting small orbs which account as the games currency along with stickers and accessories. One complaint I have here is that at points the game is difficult, it isn't difficult for the right reasons, there are some glitchy areas of the game that provide more frustration than challenge. The levels are based upon checkpoints and if you die more than four times you have to restart the entire level. This I feel really detracts from the fun of the game and could have really done with some patching.
Secondly: The graphics. Granted by today's standards these are only good but for 2007 these were truly excellent, showcasing what the platform was capable of and encompassing the 3d cartoon style of the entire game. No characters talk, all merely have speech bubbles that allow them to communicate. The landscapes provided throughout are superb, each unique and funky and each with their own little quirks that make LBP so unique.
Now the characters in this game are numerous and at the same time relatively few, the main character is Sack-boy. A loveable Rag doll that can be customised to your hearts content, whether it be a boy or a girl, outfits and accessories await in their hundreds which is part of what makes this game so easy to play and so accessible. However their is no other real character, sure you meet several along the course of the main story, however they have no real purpose beyond tutoring you in the game. Thus the story is relatively thin and this I found to be a disappointing element of LBP. From a game so rich in creativity I would have expected more.
The main game itself is quite short and has an expected play through time of six hours. However there is a lot of replay value here. The collectible orbs in each level are hidden with great expertise and the element of scoring at the end of each level is key to provide that competitive edge. This along with the desire to purchase more outfits for your Sack-boy ensure you will be playing each level at least more than once.
Then there comes the addition of user created levels, these really are a stroke of genius by Media Molecule, with each game there is a level creator where you can let your imagination run wild as you design your own level. You can include collectible orbs, hints to help players get trophies, cars, rockets, cows & anything your heart desires. Some of the levels really re amazing, I think I once found a Starksy and Hutch themed one once! It really extends the game to a whole new level. However, I found the level creator a little complicated to use and not as welcoming as the other parts of the game. This is for technical experts only I feel and am worried about how much this goes against the whole message the game is trying to send out about console gaming.
Overall then, LBP is a video game masterpiece. Admittedly it is not without it's flaws but these are minor and can be worked around. The pleasure of playing such a wonderfully crafted game overcomes all of them, this is a marvel of console gaming and is certainly the console games for all beginners to start with. It will entertain all ages and all genders, proving fun for the entire family, this is a must have. -

This is one of the most fun, accessible games on the PS3.
If you want to consider something other than blowing someone to smithereens then you should give this a go.
The developers behind this have put a lot of work into making look good, making it feel like an original game and making it a real joy to play.
It looks like it's getting harder to obtain but it's available fairly cheaply now so if you've not bought this yet then you don't have much of an excuse to not add it to your collection! -

When this game first came out, I thought it would be quiet babyish, but it isn't! It is one of the best games for the Playstation you can get. It has good graphics and I like the way you can create your own world, it's well worth the money!
